Since I was a child, everyone around me used to say that I will be a great person. They kept telling me that I'm great at what I do. But, even when they say that, I just felt empty inside. I don't know what are they talking about. I just do things like how it supposed to be. What is so great about that?
Things didn't change much at elementary school. They kept praising me with empty words. I'm sick of it. But I just keep my mouth shut cause I know it would be bad if they knew what I was thinking.
My elementary school teacher said, "You're so smart that I think you could be a great teacher one day."
"Is that so?" That's how I responded to her with a fake smile. "Thank you."
To be honest, I don't like teaching my friends or anybody else. They got me frustrated because it's so difficult for them to understand such trivial things that anybody should have known.
"Oh–right! We got new books recently. You could take a look at them if you like." She pointed out to the books at the corner of the library.
I nodded and checked on them. One book caught my eyes. The cover really made me curious. It seems new and old at the same time. So I opened that book. The next thing I knew, I've been so captive by the light that appeared out of nowhere. Everything around me seemed to sparkle and I can see so many colors. "Oh, wow ...." It made me so excited!
"Well, that's an interesting book." My teacher said behind my shoulders.
I looked at her enthusiastically, "Do you think I can go there?"
"Of course you can, my dear. But, if you want to travel far, I think you need a lot of money. And for that you need–"
"A job, right? You said I could be a great teacher in the future. I will work hard so I can get a lot of money!"
"If you want to be a teacher don't do it because of the money." She warned me. "Do it because you want to share your knowledge. Do it because you love children. Do it for the sake of this country. For our future!"
That was heavy.
"Aw ...." I sighed with disappointment. I don't have that much spirit for this country. Maybe it was harsh for me to say this but this country is about to ruin. I just wanted to have a lot of money and travel.
"This country is about to ruin."
She read my mind!
"That's why we need someone like you to teach. A smart teacher would make many amazing students. A bright future for this country!" She looked at me with high hopes in her eyes. "Isn't it amazing that teachers can make the world change for the better?"
Albert Einstein got kicked by school thou–
"Don't worry. You will do great."
She mistook my pale face, I guessed.
"I heard you got the highest score in English again."
"Oh–it was nothing. It was just luck I guess." I shook my head with a bitter laugh.
"Always got the highest score since the beginning it's not luck, you have talent! Why don't you be an English teacher instead? That way you can give an effort to bring the world for the better. Also, while doing that you sharpen your speaking skills and earn some money. Three birds with one stone, right? Everybody wins!"
And that's the beginning of my dream. The reason why I'm standing here. Maybe I will not become a teacher, but whoever I will be, I'll be happy to share my knowledge and use it to earn money. I will go and make my dream come true.
